Features of iPhone 4 Model

iPhone 4 is the touch screen slate Smartphone that is developed by the Apple Inc. This is the 4th generation iPhone. It is particularly designed for video calling; to consume media’s such as movie, books and periodicals, music, games, and for email and web access. It was declared on June7, 2010 in Moscone Center and released on 24th June, 2010, in UK, USA, Germany, Japan, and France. The iPhone 4 works with the same OS operating system that is used on prior versions of iPhones. It is controlled primarily by the user’s fingertip on multi-touch display screen, which is highly sensitive to human fingertip. The difference between iPhone 4 from its predecessors is its new design that incorporates the un-insulated stainless steel frame which acts as antenna for the device. Internal components of this device are suited within two panels that are chemically strengthened with aluminosilicate glass. It has the Apple A4 processor with 512 MB of eDRAM that is twice greater than predecessor and 4 times to the original iPhone. It is 3.5 inch with LED display and 960 x 640 pixel resolution that is traded as “Retina Display”.

Design

iPhone 4 mobile is constructed with glass faces and metal rim. This version is redesigned by Jonathan Ive. The bulged black panel and the band between front and back have been replaced as flattened surfaces. The overall dimensions have been reduced. According to this design its 4.5 inch higher, 2.31 inches wider, and 0.37 inch deep when compare with iPhone 3 GS. The iPhone 4 model is integrated around by a stainless steel frame over the edge of your phone acting as both primary structure and device antenna. This metal band serves two features, one on lower left and another at the top that divides the band into 2 sections of antenna as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS antenna and the lower and right sections serves as antenna for GSM then for UMTS connectivity. In the CDMA version, four slits are available with the metal band. At the top two slits and bottom two slits.  The metal band has been divided into four segments that serve as antennas for different connectivity layer. The top portion is meant for CDMA network connection, the left portion for Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi similar to that of GSM version. Right side segment does not act as antenna, but it serves as cosmetically mirror to the left side. This resembles the same look of the GSM version.

Technical issues

Some of the users reported that there was a yellow discoloration in the screen first when they received the phone but later it has disappeared. This is because of the glass laminated glue that is used and did not dry before reaching the customers due to speed of manufacturing. Another reports during calls proximity sensors may be insensitive, this causes the facial contact with touch screen to end calls, or dial other numbers. Also the signal strength of their device reduced while touching lower left edge and dropping of calls in locations that bridges two antennas. In response, the Apple issued some statement advising the customers to “avoid gripping in lower left corner” while receiving or making calls.
