Godaddy follows Google,leaves China

After Google recalled its Chinese website to a halt,its now GoDaddy,the worlds largest domain name registrar taking a route back from China.
According to the sources,the GoDaddy spokesperson said this move was as a result of the new Chinese law stating the need for photographic verification of new domain registrations,meaning the new domain registrar will have to give his photograph(real) as a verification for the domain to be registered successfully.

Appearing before a Congressional committee, Christine Jones, executive vice president of Go Daddy, which runs the world’s largest domain name service, said the compa- ny will no longer register new websites in China.

China’s new web- site ownership rules, which require holders of .Cn domains to provide their personal infor- mation, including photographs of themselves to the Chinese government, the company said.
