The South Korean giant Samsung has once again lead the smart watch race with its latest Galaxy Gear. The device was introduced a couple of weeks back in Berlin and actually is the first wearable-gadget being offered by Samsung. It’s important to know here that one would be able to wear the Galaxy Gear on their wrists like any other watch but unlike the ordinary watches, this special piece of gadget will offer making voice calls, capturing photos, running apps and showing alerts and much more.
Below we have enlisted 10 things you need to know about the Galaxy Gear:
1. It supports connection with Samsung devices:
Samsung has declared Galaxy Gear’s compatibility with their upcoming devices i.e. Galaxy Note III and 2014 edition of the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet. Both these devices are expected to launch soon. There is also news hovering around that the latest update which Galaxy S4 will soon be receiving is going to make it compatible with Galaxy Gear as well. In the near future, other Samsung devices are also expected to support their connection with Galaxy Gear. The connection takes place via Bluetooth.
2. Compact touch screen:
The Galaxy Gear comes with a compact 1.63-inch touch screen having a 320×320 pixel resolution.
The new Samsung Galaxy Gear will show up notifications just the way you receive them on your phone. It works in a way that whenever you will receive a new message or similar alerts on your Smartphone, Galaxy Gear will display a notification. For viewing the full message, simply grab the device it is connected to, the message will be opened automatically.
4. Making calls:
Another interesting feature you will find on your new Samsung Gear is the utility of receiving calls. Receiving calls was never this easier. All you need to do is to bring the wrist watch close enough to speak since it has a built-in microphone and speaker that will be used for taking the calls. No need of reaching the pocket and taking out your Samsung handset.
5. Reacts to voice commands:
The microphone can be used for another purpose i.e. to command instructions, just like Apple’s Siri. So now you can give voice commands and expect your Galaxy Gear to respond just accurate.
The Galaxy Gear’s wristband also packs in a small 1.9-megapixel camera. The camera can be used capture pictures fast and to record video as well.
7. Supports Apps:
The new Galaxy Gear also supports applications. Now you can manage and run apps on your smart watch just like the way you do it on smart phones, but with a limited choice of apps which include Path social network and read-it-later app Pocket. The device is soon expected to come up with much more apps.
8. Effective Battery:
The smart watch comes with an excellent battery time, so you really don’t need to worry about the hassle of carrying the charger along. It will give you a full 25 hour battery time.
9. Variety of colors.
Samsung will be releasing the Galaxy Gear in the following colors i.e. black, gray, orange, beige, rose gold and green to fulfill the color selection of maximum users.
10. No news on price and releasing date:
It is expected that 149 countries will receive this amazing device by Samsung this October, although no releasing date or price range has been disclosed.
