There is a paid version also, a monthly $3 fee, which offers protection for two Android devices along with some extra features such enhanced safe browsing, remote lock and wipe, and advanced backup. According to reports from AV-Test, Lookout has a detection rate of 99.4 per cent. Although free version would suffice most users’ requirements, if you fear a stolen phone, be ready to shell out $30 annually.

Norton Mobile Security 2014

A renowned and well trusted name in the desktop based security solutions, Norton Mobile Security 2014 is its latest offering forNorton Mobile Android based devices. There is no doubt whatsoever regarding the efficacy of its security suits. There is no one better than Norton at detecting malwares and malicious software. The app has a hundred per cent score in AV-TEST labs. Anti-theft features are not as comprehensive as Avast, but it’s highest detection rate more than makes up for it. While the app scores perfect for its free version, paying around $50 annually for premium features isn’t justified.

While features and cost are two major factors that decide whether the app is worth downloading or not, other important factors include OS footprint, and its effect on battery life.
